Pumpkin Love.

When I was a kid I used to play outside in our yard (a lot).  My mom had a large vegetable garden which I loved. One year I found a pumpkin that must not have made the Halloween cut and was left to winter over.  I poked and prodded that pumpkin with a stick until I saw the seeds on the inside which of course I had to plant. Fast forward we had 80+ pumpkins the next year and all over the yard! Oops but yay! Pumpkins have always made me pretty happy!

Sandwiched between holiday prep for the store, getting my kid off to school and swim team and the other things on my to-do list I made time for myself and went to the Skagit valley for the day.  I heard about a fantastic pumpkin farm called Gordon Skagit Farms.  It did not disappoint! The pumpkins were plentiful, and exotic in so many beautiful shades of green, orange, white, peaches and red, in all sizes and shapes. It definitely made me want to drink cider and settle into soup season!

My day continued with a visit to the Skagit Valley Co-op where I was so excited to see incredible locally grown produce and fresh baked bread the store was amazing. I stopped at a few vintage shops and found some beautiful crystal glasses and plates which we have available at the store. It was a great day and a short trip from North Seattle.
